When the time comes to disconnect one cylinder or drum that is nearing empty and replace with a new full cylinder or drum it is important that the operator or technician has the right tools to complete the operation safely. This includes having all the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as; leak detection devices and breathing apparatus as well as the correct tools to safely operate the cylinder or drum valves.
It is essential that the correct safe keys or spanner is used when connecting and disconnecting chlorine drums and cylinders. Choosing the correct accessory ensures that the cylinder or drum valve can be operated easily without the technician straining or having to use excessive force. This is safer for the operator and also ensures that there is minimal risk of damaging the value during the opening or closing exercise.
The No. 6 Cylinder SAFE Key is designed solely to operate the cylinder valve spindle and is designed with extended arms to allow the operator to achieve maximum purchase and release the valve easily.
The No. 4 Cylinder Spanner can be used to remove the cylinder valve cover nut and to tighten the gland nut as required. This spanner also incorporates an integral socket that can be used to operate the cylinder valve spindle but should only be used for this operation if a No. 6 Cylinder SAFE Key is unavailable.
